Ok so about that promise of a “live” blog…..

Where does the time go? You start off by telling your blog followers you’re going to some distant tropical places and that your going to have some great adventures to show them and you may even do some “live” posts for them. They sit and wait patiently for you to start or say something… maybe give them a little teaser, but you get so caught up in your own little world you never follow through.

So in short, you’re a let down. The words in your blog just can’t be trusted and your followers drift off somewhere else… they move to some other travel blog where the story teller actually shows up, tells a story and offers some travel advice. Ahh, the trials and tribulations of trying to write a blog.

Well here is the problem. I suffer from FOMO. You know, the fear of missing out. The result is I’m so busy trying to take everything in while on vacation that I run out of time to sit down and write something. Know what I mean? It’s a burden!

Having fun is the name of the game. When cruising or at a resort, I am constantly looking at the schedule of events. A great benefit now are the apps the cruise lines have. No more carrying around a paper schedule. All you need to do is check out the app and the events are right at your finger tips. You can even schedule yourself and get a message when you want to get to an event.

So just where have we been having fun? Since my last post way back in August we have been to Cozumel Mexico, Costa Maya Mexico, Grand Cayman, Key West and Ft. Lauderdale. We met some great people along the way and made some memories. We have a another trip planned. We’re leaving in just over a week. China, South Korea and Japan are on the horizon for us… if of course our Chinese Visas every arrive… but that’s a whole different story for another posting.

Cheers for now. If you have any thoughts or questions on this post drop me a line or two! Let me know you’re out there.

Yes I am a pirate!

Have you ever been to San Juan? It’s has always been one of my favourite stops when cruising. The sail into Old San Juan is one of the most scenic and historic you will ever see in the Caribbean. As you slowly make your way into Port, you travel along the thick and fortified structure of these walls of the old city, hundreds of years old, while off in the distant you catch a glimpse of a landscape that has the old world meeting up with the new world.

At first, when I snapped the picture above it was more about capturing the old city walls but off in the distant was a tour boat replicating an old world sail boat. I imagined what it must have been like for the sailors of the day heading into this Spanish port, on a very similar ship, seeing those walls and what the city had to offer beyond them. Were they friendly, were they a threat, maybe even a pirate or two.

San Juan is an easy stop for a Cruiseship passenger. You can walk just about anywhere in the old town. If you’re looking to shop, there are shops of all stripes and styles. If you’re looking for some history, nightlife or to simply explore Old San Juan is a city that offers it all and it has to be on your list. However, be prepared for some hot and steamy weather. Make sure you stop for some refreshment along the way at the many patios and pubs of the day.

I’ll take you deeper into Old San Juan in some later blogs. Until then I will leave you with some words of Jimmy Buffett when he penned ” Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred years to late! The cannons don’t thunder, there’s nothing to plunder I’m an over forty victim of fate, arriving to late….. arriving to late….

Stay tuned for some adventures coming your way next week as we head off into the Caribbean on the Celebrity Cruiseship Equinox. I’ll do my best to give you some live on the spot reports.

Cheers for now..

All in all, I should have lots to write about. If you have any questions about any of the locations I’ve listed don’t hesitate to ask.

Fins up readers!

Who am I?

Well somehow you made your way to my little corner of social media. Welcome to my blog! You’re probably wondering ”well ok I’m here and what’s this all about”? Or maybe you’re not! However if you are, then here is what you’re in store for. Lots of thoughts on travel with a special interest in cruise travel. Lots of photography of all types including my ideas and tips from a non professional photographer.

That’s right, I’m no pro. Far from it actually. I’m just a guy with a few decent cameras who takes tons of shots and videos while we travel. My camera is never to far away. So if you are looking for those spectacular, perfect shots you would see in some travel magazine then keep looking… you’re at the wrong blog. If you’re looking for some decent shots from an average photographer and some fun adventures Along the way, then you have arrived at the right place. I may even throw in some of my own tips or recommendations along the way.

So why should you hang around and read my blog or click that little button that tells you when I’ve posted? Honestly, I have no idea. I’m just happy you dropped by to get a little peak into my own world. That little personal part, that I’m willing to share with anyone who will listen (or in this case read).

Some of my posts will be long and some may be short. Some may just be a quick update on what’s going on. Occasionally, I’ll take you along on one of our journeys and give you little snaps of our daily adventure. A live review of sorts. Other times, you’ll just have to wait until I’m back.

So give me some time to figure out what look I like for this blog, watch my style evolve as the days go by (I paid for a year so that gives me sometime to find my way) and honestly I hope you just get a little something from the time you wasted off your day to hear about mine. Remember, I’ll try to make it worth while because once you read whatever I post you’ll never get that time back…

Fins Up and cheers!
